ART PARTY LEADERS

The West Windsor Arts Council is seeking enthusiastic individuals to lead art-based birthday parties at the West Windsor Arts Center. This individual will be responsible for developing and teaching music, theater, dance, or visual arts themed birthday parties for children from ages 4 to 13. The individual should be have a lively personality, be an effective teacher, have good communication skills, and must love working with children.  It is extremely important that this person can lead interactive, open-ended, creative activities where each child is nurtured and treated as a unique learner.   Activities should range from 45-75 minutes in length, with most lasting about an hour.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create, plan, and prepare of each activity
     
  • Implement a hands-on art activity to allow children to express their creativity
     
  • Purchase or collect supplies for each activity.  Individual will adhere to the budget and be reimbursed for the supplies purchased.  Many basic supplies (scissors, glue, brushes) will be provided by the arts council
     
  • Set up and clean-up before and after each birthday party
     
  • Provide a safe and creative environment for children
     
  • Gain general knowledge of the WWAC in order to promote our organization to attendees of the parties.

WWAC responsibilities:
  • Planning support and guidance for each activity
     
  • Provide assistants as needed per event
     
  • Supply tables, chairs, space for birthday events
     
  • Payment for party leaders and reimbursement for all supplies purchased

Applicants must send a cover letter, resume, and 3-5 sample activity lesson plans to WWACparties@gmail.com by Dec. 31, 2011.  Payment will range from $35-60 per party, based on experience and expertise.  Some training may be required.
