CA-45 ART & SCIENCE: INVENTOR'S WORKSHOP | June 24-28

Experience inventions influenced by art, nature and technology. Inventors take their inspiration from a wide variety of places – from the arts to nature and technology. We’ll explore some wild inventions and try our artistic hands to create our own, working with Science Seeds and our own teaching artists. REGISTER

Write, compose and choreograph together.  Calling all singers, dancers and actors – plus playwrights! We’ll be writing our own play, composing our own song, and choreographing our own dance for this fully engaging summer experience. Plus, we’ll be creating props, building sets, and learning about makeup and special effects as needed. Children and young teen performers will be in heaven! Smile for the camera!  Did you know that photography has been around since 1839? We’ll explore the science behind photography and how we’ve moved from film to digital image creation. Plus, we’ll take our explorations from the camera to our hands and will design personal viewpoints and expressive compositions using a variety of visual art mediums. REGISTER

Catch the wave of colors!  Explore the coolness of green, the strength of red and the warmth and happiness of orange.  Come dive into colorful creations and the science behind the colors we love.  It will be rainbow-tastic! REGISTER

Combine nature, art and environmental science. Art and nature have always been inextricably intertwined – from finding the best materials to produce dyes for fabrics to creating buildings and sculptures using natural materials. In this camp, we’ll work in our air conditioned studio and outdoors as we create and experiment with natural materials. We’ll also study artists known for using natural materials such as Andy Goldsworthy, Patrick Dougherty, and Charles Simonds. REGISTER

Are you entranced by the movies? Ready to make your own? We’ll write, direct, act in, and shoot our own short film in this highly-engaging and creative camp. Jousting with knights in the 16th century, lunching with Calder, Picasso and Miro in the 1920’s, or painting like cavemen.  Let’s wander the centuries and imagine the future together as we explore a variety of different mediums, materials, and styles. Reuse, recyle re-imagine to create art! As our nation grows to be more eco-friendly it’s amazing what we can create from what already exists.  Egg cartons, garbage bags, aluminum cans - Time to get out that creativity as we dumpster dive into our imagination. We’ll explore visual arts, creative writing, drama, and modern dance in this camp. REGISTER

Travel the world! Get out your passports!  From the shadow puppets of Indonesia to the musicians of Brazil, we are exploring the traditions, landscapes, architecture, and animals of our amazing planet. We’ll explore each country in a variety of art forms including visual art, Capoeira, percussion, and puppetry. REGISTER
