CALL TO
ARTISTS | SUBMISSION
DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2012
W33: Juried art
exhibit featuring artists ages 13 to
33
West Windsor Arts
Center Gallery | May 2-June 8, 2012
Gallery hours: Wed-Fri
12:00-6:00 pm; Sat 10:00 am-4:00 pm.
PROSPECTUS:
THEME: We may think the sense of sight and
sound are mutually exclusive but, in fact, many artists have attempted to
explore sound through visual imagery. Explore your ability to connect or
break down the barrier between sight and sound.
MEDIUM: All works that can be hung on the
wall including drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, printmaking or
fiber will be considered.
JURORS:
Kali McMillan, a documentary style
photographer, creates visual stories from her extensive travels. She
uses her camera to capture and share the social, economic and cultural
diversity of people and places around the world. Her work has been
exhibited in New York City, New Jersey, Texas and Canada and was part of
an exhibit at Milk Galleries in New York City featuring the
industry's most progressive and innovative emerging photographers. Kali
has taught photography at West Windsor Arts Center and Martin House
in Trenton NJ.
Donna Payton transforms discarded and
unnoticed items into works that range from the sublimely ridiculous to the
neo-surreal. She ironically converts culture's castoffs into cultural
icons- assembled sculptures that are then reinvented in the
two-dimensional worlds of paintings, prints and drawings. She has
exhibited widely in the United States. Her works are in many public and
private collections, including Citibank of Florida, Jersey City Museum,
Zimmerli Art Museum, the New Jersey State Museum, and the International
Museum of Collage in Mexico. Donna has taught art at Ocean County College,
Brookdale Community College and currently teaches at the West Windsor Arts
Center and the Arts Council of Princeton.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists between the
ages of 13-33 who either reside or attend school in Mercer County
(Middlesex residents are eligible if they attend a West Windsor Plainsboro
School). Applicants may submit up to three images for jury review. All
works entered must be original.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: April 1, 2012
